Comics are an excellent choice of reading with a strong presence in the publishing market and with many followers between children and young people.

To make the most of its attraction and potential, it is advisable to:

·       Refuse the cliché that comic is a minor genre, devoid ofquality, which is only a step towards a higher literature, and give it the value it deserves.
·       Assess its value as a means of creative expression that combines text and illustration to create its own language, which makes it unique: panels, speech bubbles, onomatopoeia, etc.
·       Encourage children and young people to discover the variety of styles, subjects and authors, respecting their tastes and what they choose.
·       Give some options to children that let them broaden their knowledge, share information and discuss about comics: check out magazines, participate in forums, visit specialized web resources, etc.
And if you want to know more, please seek the advice of the professionals and experts (librarians, booksellers...); they can help you to select quality works, to learn some keys and to decipher more complex code.
